Bold Belle picked in the City of Napier Sprint

Bold Belle picked in the City of Napier Sprint

BOLD BELLE can win the City of Napier Sprint first up. This mare has won three of her twelve starts; two of her wins were first up and the other was second up. She has had two trials to prepare for this so another first up win is on the cards. ARIS ARIS finished a close second at Tauranga last time and she is a winning chance in t his. All of her wins have been on slow tracks.

Sporting Chance selected to win the Hawkes Bay Cup

Sporting Chance picked in Hawkes Bay Cup

Titled each way chance

SPORTING CHANCE won at Ellerslie two weeks ago, albeit in a lower grade but I think he can step up and win the Hawkes Bay Cup which looks very open. This horse has a 66441 form line and is improving with every run. He recent win was at the distance and he drops in weight.

TITLED has an excellent form line of 2121 with his recent win being 5/04. He also drops in weight and if it rains then that would play in his favour.

CHEVAL DE FOUDRE won last time out 6/4 and carried a big weight. He drops from 59kg to 53kg. AS a four year old he is a likely improver as a stayer.

Backing these three horses may be the way to go.

La Crique has the stats in her favour for the New Zealand WFA feature

La Crique has the stats in her favour for the New Zealand WFA feature

LA CRIQUE is the trend horse for the El Cheapo Cars WFA at Otaki on Saturday. She is the second highest rated runner in the race with a rating of 108. Eight of the last eleven winners of this race were rated 100 and above. There are three horses in this year’s race with a rating of at least 100 with the other two being LEVANTE on 109 and PRIS DE FER on 105.

The other stat to note is that nine of the last 11 winners of this race were aged 4 or 5 which points to La Crique as the one to beat. She is a four year old. Levante is aged 6 and Pris De Fer is aged 7.

As for the going, well La Crique handles anything. She has a better wet track record than her closest rivals but at the same time goes just as well on firm going.

Otaki-Nom de Plume an unexposed talent waiting in the wings

Otaki-Nom de Plume an unexposed talent waiting in the wings

NOM DE PLUME is my bet of the day at Otaki on Saturday. She runs in the three & four year old race there. Nom De Plume has run two cracking races in her last two runs, both at 1400m and she steps up to 2100m this time which will suit down to the ground. She is trained by Robbie Patterson who has an amazing strike-rate this season, even better when Craig Grylls is riding which will be the case on Saturday. Certain horses tend to excel once they race over the middle distance and I think that could be the case with Nom De Plume. Talking about unexposed types. There are two others in the race who are worth noting for the future. They are KATTEGAT and KAHMA SUITE. Both are last race maiden winners. Kattegat is unbeaten past 1600m while Kahma Suite was pulled up in her first attempt at 2000m then won her second attempt.
