Maxi King has class for the Copper Horse Handicap

Maxi King has class for the Copper Horse Handicap

MAXI KING should have enough class to take out Tuesday’s Copper Horse Handicap on day one at Royal Ascot. He ran fourth at Group 3 level at Newbury last time out and prior to that he won two races in a row.His form line up to the mile is 24433 and at distance further than a mile it is 1114. That tells you that Maxi King Excels over the longer distances. 1M 6f will be the furthest he has raced in but that should not hold any fears for him because he won in heavy going over 1m2f and carried 9.6 , it takes stamina to win in heavy going.

Notable Speech hard to beat at Royal Ascot

Notable Speech favourite for the St James Palace StakesThe unbeaten NOTABLE SPEECH will be well-backed for the St James Palace Stakes. He has won all four of his races; the most recent being in the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket. Three of the last seven winners of this race were unbeaten going into this race. ROSAILLION has to be his biggest danger. He finished second to Notable Speech in the 200 Guineas at Newmarket before winning the Irish 2000 Guineas at the Curragh. Adaay in Heaven picked at Sandown (UK)

Adaay in Heaven picked at Sandown (UK)

ADAAY IN  HEAVEN is my pick for the Curry Stakes at Sandown on Saturday. This horse is super consistent having finished in the first three in 11 of his 14 race starts. Of those three starts. One of them was on the all weather, his only all weather race, one was at 7f, his only race at that distance, and the other was when he ran fourth at Doncaster, his only race at that track. This will be his first race at Sandown so it will be interesting to see how he goes.

Haydock-Witchhunter picked

WITCHHUNTER ran third at G1 level at Newbury last time and that form should be good enough to win here. He is a consistent horse but seldom wins, however he is a g2 winner from last season. POGO has to be a big chance. He finished a neck second at the CD last time and is a proven Group winner.

Winter Betting System

Following 4kg claimers might be worthwhile during winter

The Winter Betting System

The heavy tracks in New Zealand has seen quite a number of horses that have won with light weights as a result of a  4kg claimer aboard. Many of these horses have won or run places at long odds. Here are the horses with a 4kg claimer aboard at Matamata on Wednesday 5 June. There are two 4kg apprentices riding at Matamata, Tayla Melvin and Rhaan Guyaam. Tayla rides for the powerful Walker/Bergerson stable so I can see here raking up the wins. She rode her first winner two Saturday’s ago and has two strong chances on Wednesday. I have not heard of Rhaan Guyaam.

Emily Upjohn favourite for Epsom

Photo by Valentin Angel Fernandez on Pexels.com

Emily Upjohn Favourite at Epsom (UK)

EMILY UPJOHN is the odds-on favourite for the Coronation Cup at Epsom on Friday, a G1 race over 1m4f (2400m). Her record suggests that she is the one to be. In 10 starts she has won 5 times and finished second twice. Her record at Epsom Downs is two starts for a win and a second. She won last year’s Coronation Cup and in 2022 finished a close second to Tuesday in the Oaks. Both of those races are run at 1m4f. Punters should kind in mind that she prefers good going. She has won on good to soft going but it all depends on how much rain their is.

King Frankel hard top beat in the Premier’s Cup

King Frankel hard top beat in the Premier’s Cup

KING FRANKEL ticks enough boxes to suggest that he can win the Premier’s Cup at Eagle Farm on Saturday. This will be his third run back from a spell having finished less than 6 lengths from the winner in the Wagga Cup and less than 4 lengths from the winner in the Chairman’s Handicap 2 weeks ago. He is from the in form Annabel Neesham stable. Neesham also has REGAL LION, DOUBLE CHERRY, and SPIRIT RIDGE engaged.

The Duffers Creek Betting System

Here is a system which I found on my computer. I came up with it several years ago after Duffer’s Creek won the Wanganui WFA.  There are not many horses which qualify. It is interesting to note that three recent winners of the Wanganui WFA were qualifiers of this system. They were Duffers Creek, Dolcetto, and Amusez Moi.

That Wanganui race is on this Saturday.

THE DUFFER’S CREEK BETTING SYSTEM

RULE ONE

Must have raced at least three times since a layoff

RULE TWO

Must have last raced within the previous fifteen days.

RULE THREE

Must not have shown a negative form line in its last three starts

RULE FOUR

Must not have won within its last four starts

RULE FIVE

Adding the last three form figures together, the total must not exceed 15

Positive form lines

When we are looking for a positive form line, we mean a horse in its last three starts has improved its finishing position or at least has not finished further back then its previous start. The ideal form line would be 432 but form 633 also qualifies.

Adding these three form figures together would give you a form total of 9. That is 4+3+2=9 which qualifies as a selection.

Some horses that qualified & won about this time last year in previous seasons, their form, and their dividends were: Gabriel $6.00 and $2.20, Sixties Groove $3.90 and $2.00, Dolcetto $7.30 and $2.30, Call Me Irish 653 $8.50, Accidental Offside 542 $9.00, Veracious 552 $7.50, Its a Wonder 843 $2.70, Duffers Creek 633 $9.00, Madonna Mia 762 $4.60, Amusez Moi 622 $5.80

Horses for courses system does well at Wanganui therefore note anything which has won or finished placed on the course. Wanganui trained horses have a good record on their home track; take particular note of those that have raced not longer than 14 days ago.

Trainers that do well at this meeting are Lisa Latta and Allan Sharrock. The Latta yard seems to have one which wins at such a price that it covers the cost of backing all of the stable’s runners. In the last 2 years that has been the case.

Those horses that won or finished second or third at Trentham have a good record here.

Berry the Cash picked for Awapuni Hurdles

Berry the Cash picked for Awapuni Hurdles

BERRY THE CASH has just had the five hurdles races but that includes a Grand National Hurdles. This horse could turn out to be the Hurdles Star of the winter. He won on the flat last time out and this race is certainly within his reach. ENGLISH GAMBLER won at Te Rapa last time. He has won four times over hurdles and is the major danger to English Gambler. LOCHWINNOCH is the other horse to consider. He was beaten by a very smart hurdler at Hawera last time. IT is worth noting that Lochwinnoch is unbeaten at the course and distance.

Star Shadow picked for the Champagne Stakes at Pukekohe

Photo by Aliaksei Semirski on Pexels.com

STAR SHADOW is expected to be the odds-on favourite for the Champagne Stakes at Pukekohe on Saturday. The Te Akau filly has done little wrong in her two starts to date, winning in heavy going on debut and running fifth in listed company at her second start. She is the only race winner in this field. TAKE THE CROWN could give Star Shadow a run for her money. He ran third two weeks agio at New Plymouth so has to be right in this. It is hard to fancy the others.
