Doha picked to win at Royal Ascot
Kensington Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot 1m F&M C2
DOHA is picked to win the Kensington Palace Stakes on Wednesday, This is a class 2 race run at one mile. Doha was a beaten odds-on favourite last time out when going down by a neck. She carried 9.11 that day and raced at 1m2f. The drop back to a mile will suit her fine and you will see a much better horse turn up on Wednesday. I think Doha could turn out to be quite a handy mare in the right class. SUMMER OF LOVE is the favourite. She has won two of her three races but they have all been on the all weather at Kempton and this is her turf debut.
Ocean Jewel picked in the Duke of Cambridge Stakes
OCEAN JEWEL is the third favourite in a very trappy race. I think she might be a better alternative to the favourite LAUREL and second favourite Rogue Millennium. Laurel has not raced since May 2023. It is noticeable that she is unbeaten below G1 level but the long time between races is a concern. Rogue Millennium has won once from his last thirteen races and that win came in this very race last year. Ocean Jewel won at G2 level last time out beating Rogue Millennium (3rd)) but she cops a penalty. Even so it should be noted that her record at 7f and longer is two wins from three starts. The other race was a G1 event. She is therefore selected.
