Colonel Warden picked in the CJC Champagne Stakes
COLONEL WARDEN may be on debut but I think he will be ready to win first up in Saturday’s Champagne Stakes at Riccarton. The Te Akau youngster won a trial recently in Tauranga and his connections must have felt it worth their while sending him down to the South Island for this. Colonel Warden is by Russian Revolution out of a High Chaparral mare so you would think that he won’t mind the wet. His stable mate DISCRETION RULES may have to be content with the minors again. I think taking these two in the quinella is the way to go. Te Akau has a good record in two year old races.
